The 3 Mistakes That Can Cost Course Creators $30K+ Per Launch

After working with dozens of course creators and coaches, I've started seeing the same expensive mistakes over and over again.

These aren't beginners making rookie errors. These are established business owners who've proven their offers work, built loyal audiences, and hit multiple six figures.

But there's ONE mistake that shows up across almost every client I work with, and it's costing them serious money.

They choose language they love over language people actually understand.

The Language Problem That's Costing You Sales

I see this especially with spiritual wellness and creative business owners.

They'll use beautiful, poetic language that perfectly captures their vision... but leaves their audience confused about what they're actually buying.

Here's what this looks like in practice:

🆇 Instead of saying "learn to manage your anxiety," they say "transform your energetic frequency to align with abundance."

âś“ Instead of "increase your email subscribers," they say "call in your soul tribe through authentic magnetic messaging."

Both might be true. But only one makes someone think "yes, that's exactly what I need."

The other requires mental translation and every moment of confusion is a moment closer to your prospect clicking away.

The Second Costly Mistake: Treating Modules Like a Grocery List

Your sales page lists:

  • Module 1: Foundation
  • Module 2: Strategy
  • Module 3: Implementation

When it should be selling outcomes:

  • Week 1: Stop second-guessing every decision
  • Week 2: Create your signature system
  • Week 3: Launch with confidence

Here's the thing about buyer psychology:

People don't buy modules. They buy the person they'll become after finishing your program.

When you lead with features instead of transformation, you're asking people to do mental math: "If I learn about foundations and strategy, will that help me feel confident in my business?"

Make it easier for them.

The Third Mistake: Generic Call-to-Action Language

Most people default to "Buy Now" or "Enroll Today."

But those generic CTAs don't address the specific psychology of your audience.

Your call-to-action language matters more than you think. When someone is ready to buy, they're thinking specific thoughts:

  • "Will this actually work for me?"
  • "Is now the right time?"
  • "What if I fail again?"

Generic CTAs ignore all of that.

Instead, your CTA should speak to what your people are actually thinking when they're at the decision point.

I broke down 2 CTA formulas that work better because they speak to buyer psychology:

Why These Mistakes Are So Expensive

Each of these mistakes doesn't just cost you one sale, it can cost dozens or hundreds of sales per launch.

When your language requires translation, you lose people.

When your modules read like a course syllabus instead of a transformation journey, you lose people.

When your CTA is generic, you lose people who were THIS CLOSE to buying.

The math adds up fast:

  • If you're getting 1,000 sales page visitors per launch
  • And your conversion rate is 2% (20 sales)
  • Fixing these three mistakes could push you to 3-4% (30-40 sales)
  • At $500-$1,000 per sale, that's $5,000-$20,000+ in additional revenue per launch

And if you launch multiple times per year? The cost compounds.

How to Fix This

For the language problem:

Read your sales page out loud. Every time you stumble or have to explain what something means, that's a place your prospects are getting confused.

Ask yourself: "Would someone who's never heard me speak before understand exactly what I'm offering?"

If not, simplify.

For the modules problem:

Go through each module and ask: "What does someone who completes this module now FEEL or DO differently?"

That feeling/ability is what you should lead with, not the module name.

For the CTA problem:

Instead of "Buy Now," try:

  • "Yes, I'm Ready to [Specific Outcome]"
  • "Show Me How to [Solve Specific Problem]"
  • "I Want [Specific Transformation]"

The Bottom Line

Your expertise is incredible. Sometimes it just needs translation.

The gap between what you know and what your prospects understand is where sales are lost.

Close that gap, and your conversion rate will reflect it.
